Coaches, fans, and friends of Texas High School softball,

I am saddened to inform all of you of the tragic passing of a great friend of our sport, Coach Steve "V" Vierra, head coach at Round Rock McNeil High School. He was a great friend to our sport and also a great men's fastpitch softball player. Please pray for his family, his current players at McNeil HS, and his former players at McNeil, Georgetown, and Lubbock Monterey High Schools whom he so positively influenced in their lives. We will all greatly miss our friend "V."

Below is the obituary and funeral arrangements for Coach V:

Steve Eric “V” Vierra, born October 17, 1966 in Long Beach, California and passed away on March 2, 2018 at 51 years of age in Georgetown, Texas.

After graduating from Madera High School in Madera, California he moved to Lubbock, Texas where he attended and graduated from Lubbock Christian University in 1991. He coached at Monterey High School from 1992 until 2000 where he coached the Lady Plainsmen from 1993 until 1994. At the end of his second year coaching women’s soccer, he started the high school’s first softball program, where he led them to the playoffs five of the six years that he was the head coach. After a prosperous run as a head coach at Monterey High School, he and his family moved to Georgetown, Texas where he was named the head softball coach at Georgetown High School from 2000 until 2010. After ten years of leading the Lady Eagles to nine playoff appearances and a district championship in his first year as head coach, he stepped away from coaching in order to watch his three children compete in their respective sports. In 2015, he decided to get back into the coaching ranks once again, taking over the softball and women’s cross country programs as head coach at McNeil High School, where he served until he passed. During his spare time and summers, Steve loved playing Men’s Fastpitch Softball. He was known by many as one of the best teammates, opponents, and competitors in the country.

“V” spent 25 years in education as a teacher, coach, and mentor to many. He not only acted as a coach to hundreds, but served as teacher to thousands. The legacy that he leaves behind is an imprint that will not soon be forgotten to those who were lucky enough to know him.

Steve is preceded in death by his father Joaquin “Jack” Vierra. He is survived by his mother Juanita Vierra; Wife Annette Vierra; Children Jordon and his wife Macy, Jaron and his wife Cara, and Alaina; Grandchildren Landry and Jameson; his siblings Eddie, Karen, & Cheryl; and numerous nieces and nephews.
